The O&M Team specialises in developing your spatial awareness, using sensory clues and landmarks, protective techniques, long cane skills and sighted guide training. You might also learn to use the latest GPS navigation systems on a BrailleNote or mobile ‘phone.

The Team can offer you vital travel training skills including bus and rail travel, road safety, money management and communication skills to increase your confidence and independence.

QAC welcomes guide dog users and their dogs. Your accommodation will be selected carefully to ensure that you and your dog are comfortable.

Mobility Qualification

QAC now offers the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification in ‘Independent Mobility Travel Training’.

The first two units of the Independent Travel Training programme are accredited at Entry Level by the National Open College Network, with the third unit being accredited at Level 1. Each of the units within the programme can be accredited individually, therefore every individual, regardless of ability, should be able to achieve something from the programme.
