Library & Learning Centre

The College's Patrick Library provides a modern facility in which students may learn and study.

Facilities include:

• Standard and Large print fiction and non-fiction
• Braille fiction and non-fiction
• An excellent research facility
• Audio library
• Wide range of magazines, newspapers and periodicals in Braille, Audio, Disk and Large Print
• Audio described and standard video library for use in academic and recreational settings
• A range of hand-held magnifiers
• Individual video magnifiers (CCTVs)
• Individual audio players.
• Assistive technology such as ‘Scanner’ and ‘My Reader’

In addition, to encourage students to make full use of this facility the Library Team encourages both staff, students and Governors to celebrate National Poetry Day and World Book Day, through special theme days with activities, competitions and quizzes.

The Learning Centre is well equipped with a number of computers connected to the Internet, and with a wide variety of software packages and screen sizes, all of which have either speech or large print enhancement facilities. In addition there is access to scanners, reading machines, individual close-circuit televisions (CCTV), a range of hand held magnifiers. The area also has access to the College's excellent Braille Technology facilities and is staffed by a knowledgeable team of staff who provide support and guidance when required.
