QAC has loads of great technology to make learning and working easier. There are hundreds of computers with Jaws, Supernova, Zoomtext, Microsoft Office and fast Internet.
Special (assistive) technology also includes Scannar, which reads pages out loud. ‘My Reader’ which enlarges and displays printed text the way you want it. Our video magnifiers (CCTVs) can link into the computer and let you see a book and your computer work together on a split screen.
Many of QAC learners use Perkins brailler but we also have the latest Braille technology – braillnote, which is like a laptop for a Braille user. It can be connected to a GPS (Global Positioning System) receiver and used to find a way around on the streets.
