Alstrom Syndrome UK

ASUK are a passionate and dedicated team, supporting families and individuals by providing personalised family support and information for professionals wanting to know more. ASUK developed the world’s first Alström multi disciplinary clinics where patients can receive the most up to date advice and treatments to manage this complex condition.

Alström Syndrome is a very rare genetic condition which may lead to progressive blindness and deafness and may also lead to heart and kidney failure, type 2 diabetes, liver dysfunction and associated problems.

ASUK promote research initiatives and finding potential treatments for patients affected, alongside forging strong links across Europe.

ASUK also raise awareness nationally and globally and have developed many projects including ‘Let’s Get Moving’, ‘Breaking down Barriers’ and supporting young people through our ‘T-KASH resources’.

In 2013, ASUK was extremely proud to be awarded the EURORDIS Patient Group of the year award.
