VICTA – Improving the lives of children and young people who are blind or partially sighted

VICTA is a charity and we organise activities designed to improve the emotional, social and living skills of the children and young people we support.

Our international trips provide an opportunity for blind and partially sighted young people to experience the wonder of travel in a semi-independent way. Our UK youth weekends use the challenge of activities such as indoor skydiving, canoeing and surfing to build confidence and prove that anything is possible.

Our family weekends are designed with parents in mind. We provide workshops and information opportunities for parents to share the highs and lows of family life.

VICTA also offer grants to enable children and young people who are blind or partially sighted to reach their full potential. Whether it is for a brailler or a computer to help keep in touch. We want to encourage young people to develop independent life skills and therefore provide grants for equipment such as talking household items, magnifiers and navigation aids.

All of our activities and grants would not be possible without the efforts of our fundraisers and volunteers

What the students say

The College has helped me to feel more confident and develop my independence. Staff are really helpful and provide lots of support whenever I need it.
