Independent Board Member – QAC Enterprises
17 December 2015
Queen Alexandra College is a charity and a thriving specialist provider of education, training and independent living for people with visual impairment, autistic spectrum, specific learning and other disabilities. We are primarily located at our campus in Harborne, Birmingham with properties and businesses in other areas of the city.
Our trading subsidiary QAC Enterprises is looking for a strategically aware, motivated and dynamic business leader to join its Board as a voluntary independent director. The role of the independent director is primarily to provide independent objective oversight and constructive challenge to the executives and governors appointed by the college as directors, whilst also advising on outside business factors.
QAC Enterprises has a number of trading activities: All Formats transcription services, Sight Village and Autism Central exhibitions, Coffee Junction coffee shop, iCycles cycle shop, Umberslade nurseries and a cane sale business.
We would be particularly interested to hear from people with marketing and business development experience.
For more information or an informal discussion about the role, please contact Alison Lydon, Governance Director on 0121 428 5022 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Further information about the College is available at www.qac.ac.uk. An induction and ongoing training will be provided.
Applications in writing to demonstrate the above should be made by 14th February to Alison Lydon, Clerk to Governors, Queen Alexandra College, Court Oak Road, Harborne, Birmingham B17 9TG or email@example.com
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to meet with the Search Committee in March to discuss their application.
