Unlocking Potential - Athlete Mentor revealed

18 March 2015

We were thrilled to discover that two of our students have been accepted onto the AQA Unlocking Potential programme which is run jointly with the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust.

The eight month mentoring programme enables young people to work with unlocking-potential students with Mikail Hugginsand learn from the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust's team of inspirational athlete mentors. They will take part in group events as well as one-on-one mentoring sessions and will run and deliver a community project which will make a positive impact in their local area.

George (Creative Media student) and Zach (Sport & Recreation student) were nominated by members of staff for inclusion in the project. We were very happy that both were accepted and on Tuesday 10th March, they finally got to meet their mentor - Mikail Huggins, Paralympic Silver Medalist (London 2012).

This initial meeting was incredibly inspirational for both students and they are looking forward to working closely with Mikail and working together to deliver the community project, as well as finding out a little more about themselves along the way.

We wish both Zach and George every success in this project.
