Scottish Sensory Centre

The Scottish Sensory Centre (SSC) is a national centre that promotes innovation and good practice in the education of deaf, visually impaired and deafblind pupils and young people in Scotland. It aims to provide specialist knowledge, advice and guidance by working collaboratively with professionals, parents and voluntary agencies involved in the education of children with a sensory impairment in Scotland. The Centre's main objectives are: to continue to develop Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses; to provide specialist information and advisory services (incorporating latest research outcomes); to collaborate with all those interested in the education of sensory impaired children; to represent and promote issues pertaining to the lifelong learning of children and young people with sensory impairments in Scotland, through submissions and presentations to Scottish, UK, international and parliamentary groups; and, to engage in appropriate development work in relation to the learning and development of children with sensory impairment in Scotland to inform educational practice and provision in line with Government legislation and policy.
