LEAP (Learning, Employment and Progression)

The LEAP programme (Learning, Employment and Progression) is all about having tasters of work and work experience whilst gaining a useful qualification for your future.

LEAP qualifications are at Entry 3 and Level 1. We can also offer Level 2 and Level 3 on our LEAP Hub Hospitality programme.

The LEAP programme is split into two distinct areas; LASER LEAP and LEAP Hubs. The general programme provides students the opportunity to experience a variety of different subjects, this is particularly beneficial to those students that are not quite sure what pathway they wish to follow.

Some of the areas covered by general curriculum in LASER LEAP include:

  • Creative Arts
  • Employability Skills
  • Horticulture
  • Independent Living Skills
  • Preparing to Learn
  • Sport and Active Leisure
  • Work Experience and Work Preparation

Our LEAP Hubs have a specific industry focus. Dedicated areas equipped to meet the needs of students known as Hubs, which focus on specific career pathways, can also be accessed via the LEAP programme. Currently, there are 7 Hub areas:

  • LEAP Hub Arts
  • LEAP Hub Creative Enterprise
  • LEAP Hub Community
  • LEAP Hub Hospitality
  • LEAP Hub MVS (Motor Vehicle Studies)
  • LEAP Hub Sport & Leisure
  • LEAP Hub Trades

LEAP Hubs aim to develop basic knowledge and understanding of business development through exploring the different employability skills needed to help secure employment in a chosen area.

Both programmes have been designed with flexibility in mind and students are required to build a portfolio of evidence.

Each LEAP study programme will also involve English and Maths and any required support and/or therapies to meet individual needs.

I really enjoy my course because it offers me a good mix of theory and practical it has also allowed me to experience new sports that I have never played before.
