Our LEAP Hub Care programme supports students to develop the knowledge, confidence and independence needed for adult life, employment and future learning. Students explore the care sector while developing an understanding of working with children, older people and individuals who may require care and support.

Students learn about a wide range of care-related topics including health and wellbeing, mental health, dementia awareness, safeguarding, equality and diversity, dignity and respect, independent living and employability. Functional English, maths and digital skills are embedded throughout the programme to ensure learning remains relevant and meaningful.

Learning takes place through classroom activities, practical experiences, role play, research tasks, group projects and workplace learning opportunities. Students are encouraged to build communication skills, solve problems, work collaboratively and develop the confidence to apply their learning in real-life situations.

Work experience forms an important part of the programme, allowing students to apply their knowledge in realistic settings while developing transferable workplace skills. Placements are carefully matched to students' interests, strengths and future aspirations, with support provided throughout the experience.

Students work towards their individual EHCP outcomes, personal goals and future progression plans. Following completion of the course, students may progress into employment, supported employment, volunteering, supported internships, apprenticeships, further education or vocational Health and Social Care programmes.
