Entry 3 / Level 1 LEAP Hub Creative Arts

Developing Skills for Creative Arts, Work and Adult Life

Entry 3 / Level 1

Our LEAP Hub Creative Arts programme provides students with the opportunity to develop creative, practical and digital skills while building the confidence needed for employment, further learning and independent adult life. Students explore a range of creative disciplines including art and design, photography, digital media and print production, learning how creative ideas can be developed into finished products and commercial outcomes.

Students develop knowledge and practical skills in traditional art techniques, photography, digital design, print production and creative problem-solving. They learn how to generate ideas, respond to creative briefs and produce high-quality products, including printed clothing, mugs and merchandise. Throughout the programme, students also develop essential employability skills such as communication, teamwork, organisation, customer service and working to deadlines.

Learning is delivered through a combination of practical projects, creative workshops, digital design activities and real-world production tasks. Students explore the work of artists, designers and photographers, experiment with a variety of materials and techniques, create artwork using digital design software and prepare designs for professional printing. They also complete live projects and customer orders for departments across the college, helping them gain valuable experience of meeting customer expectations and quality standards.

The programme includes internal and external work experience opportunities that allow students to apply their skills in authentic workplace settings. Through real commissions, production projects and work placements, students develop professional behaviours, workplace communication skills and an understanding of industry expectations within creative, print and retail environments.

Students work towards LASER qualifications at Entry Level 3 or Level 1 and are supported to achieve their individual goals and future aspirations. By the end of the programme, learners will have developed a portfolio of artwork, photography, digital designs and printed products that showcases their skills and achievements. Progression opportunities may include further education, supported internships, volunteering, employment or additional vocational training within the creative, retail, print and production sectors
