Entry 3 / Level 1 LEAP Hub Hospitality and Catering

Developing Skills for Hospitality, Work and Adult Life

Entry 3 / Level 1

Our LEAP Hub Hospitality programme provides students with the opportunity to develop practical hospitality skills, gain real workplace experience and build the confidence needed for employment, further learning and adult life. Students learn within our industry-standard training kitchen, classroom environment and QACafé, our live working café where students develop skills in a real customer-facing setting.

Students develop knowledge and practical skills in food preparation, baking, cooking, customer service, barista skills, teamwork and workplace communication. They also learn about food hygiene, allergen awareness, health and safety, cleaning procedures and professional behaviours expected within the hospitality industry.

Learning is delivered through a combination of practical sessions, classroom activities, enterprise projects and real-life workplace experiences. Students take on a variety of responsibilities within QACafé, including preparing and serving food and drinks, handling payments, maintaining workplace records and ensuring high standards of cleanliness and customer service.

The programme includes internal and external work placements, volunteering opportunities and participation in events, helping students experience a range of hospitality environments while developing independence, resilience and employability skills.

Students work towards LASER qualifications at Entry 3 or Level 1 and are supported to identify their strengths, interests and future career goals. Progression opportunities may include employment, supported internships, apprenticeships, volunteering, further education or additional vocational training within the hospitality sector.
