Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Performing Arts Practice

Programme outline 

The Pearson BTEC Level 3 National in Performing Arts Practice is a vocational qualification designed for students who want to pursue a career in the performing arts industry.  This qualification is 100% internally assessed, meaning there are no external exams.   

Holistic Assessment: The curriculum is divided into large "learning and teaching modules" rather than many small units, allowing students to integrate their learning through practical projects and workshops. 

Qualification Sizes & Pathways 

The course is available in two sizes,  

  • Foundation Diploma (540 GLH): Equivalent to 1.5 A Levels. 
  • Extended Diploma (1080 GLH): Equivalent to 3 A Levels

For the Extended Diploma, these include: 

  • Performing Arts Skills Development 
  • The Performing Arts Industry 
  • Personal Performing Arts Profile 
  • Collaborative Performing Arts Project 

Entry Requirements 

Students looking for a practical, work-related qualification 

Students looking to go into further/higher education 

Typically requires GCSEs at grade 4 or above in Maths and English or working towards this. 

Desirable- Level 2 qualification in a relevant subject. 

Progression 

It is eligible for UCAS points and is recognized for entry into higher education institutions or specialist performing arts conservatoires. Alternatively, this qualification enables employment pathways in the Performing Arts sector.
