What are Low Vision Assessments and why are they crucial? N-Vision

Technology is advancing rapidly, and some fundamental aids still play an important part in improving independence, employability and social connection. However, people with a sight impairment benefit greatly when they have a regular Low Vision Assessment. It connects them to the right solutions for them, and avoids frustration, disappointment, wasted money and time. It can also ensure they receive the right training and coaching in how to use the technology that is available. This workshop explains what happens in an LVA, how to arrange to get one, what to expect and how to use the information gained every day. N-Vision is a centre of excellent in LVAs and recently won a contract to deliver them to all under 18-year-olds in Lancashire.

Accessible Sport at Galloway's Society for the Blind - Galloways CIO

We will introduce Galloway's Society for the Blind's approach to accessible sport, with a focus on how we use inclusive, adaptive activities—like Blind Baseball—to support people living with sight loss. We will highlight: The range of sports we offer, including Blind Baseball, Showdown, walking groups, and more. How our sessions are designed to promote confidence, independence, and community, using audio cues, blindfolds, and accessible venues. Real stories from participants whose lives have been transformed by taking part. The importance of volunteers and transport support in making these opportunities accessible to all. The talk will close with a call to action—encouraging attendees to get involved, spread awareness, or support our work through partnerships or volunteering.
