Level 3 Certificate/Subsidiary Diploma / Diploma/Extended Diploma in Performing Arts (QCF)

Entry Requirements:
•  Level 2 in Performing Arts or
•  4 GCSEs at a minimum grade of C or above
•  An appropriate standard of literacy and numeracy

Programme Outline:

The Level 3 in Performing Arts is a nationally recognised qualification which has been designed to provide a highly specialist work related programme of study. The level 3 programme gives you the knowledge, understanding and skills that are needed to prepare for employment in the Performing Arts sector.

The qualification is a workshop and studies based, hands on course that is about building a portfolio of work through varied, set and negotiated projects.

Level 3 Certificate in Performing Arts (QCF)
This is a 30 credit programme that focuses on particular elements within Performing Arts. It is broadly equivalent to one GCE AS level

Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Performing Arts (QCF)
This is a 60 credit programme which offers greater flexibility and choice of emphasis through optional units. It is broadly equivalent to one GCE A level

Level 3 Diploma in Performing Arts (QCF)
This is a 120 credit programme that broadens and expands the specialist work related focus from the Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma. It is equivalent to 2 GCE A levels.

Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts (QCF)
This is a 180 credit programme that extends and deepens the specialist work related focus from the Level 3 Diploma. There is potential for the qualification to prepare you for direct employment within the Performing Arts sector and is suitable for people who have decided that they wish to enter a particular specialist area of work or further develop their specialism. It is broadly equivalent to 3 GCE A Levels.

Duration:
Start dates for these programmes are flexible, with completion usually achieved within two to three years.

Progression:
On successful completion of a Level 3 in Performing Arts qualification, you can progress to employment and/or continue your study in the same or related vocational area within further education or university.
