National Apprenticeship Week at QAC

National Apprenticeship Week is the perfect opportunity to highlight the growth and progress of our staff members who have joined us as Apprentices.

Today, we are shining a spotlight on two of our Apprentices: Oliver P., a Business Administrator Apprentice, and Matthew T., our Senior Maintenance Technician. Find out more about their journeys below.

Oliver started at QAC in August 2025 and is completing a Level 3 Business Admin Apprenticeship, splitting his time between our reception on the main campus and working in All Formats.

Hearing from Oliver’s line managers, they said "Oliver consistently shows commitment, professionalism, and a willingness to learn at reception" and "Oliver is a good addition to the All Formats team, they are always keen to learn, develop and implement new skills that they can use in the future and that actively help us as a business right now."

Oliver spoke about his current time on the apprenticeship, stating, “My apprenticeship with QAC has been amazing so far. As I am split between All Formats and the College's reception, I believe that I have been given the best opportunity to learn a great range of skills and to further develop my professional career.”

Matthew T.- Senior Maintenance Technician

Matthew, our Senior Maintenance Technician, started his apprenticeship journey at QAC in October 2023, where he completed a Level 2 Carpentry Diploma. Following that, he is now in the process of completing a Level 3 Multi-Skilled Maintenance Apprenticeship Diploma.

When asked about his time at QAC, Matthew shares: "My time at QAC has been good, I've learnt a lot, become more independent and confident in my work"

His line manager then shares:
"Matthew has demonstrated exceptional growth throughout his apprenticeship, developing into a skilled and reliable Senior Maintenance Technician who is now a highly valued member of the Estates Team. The knowledge and practical experience he has gained during his time at QAC have enabled us to complete a wide range of refurbishment projects and essential repairs in‑house. This has made a meaningful impact on both students and staff by improving our facilities, reducing reliance on external contractors, and speeding up turnaround times for important works.

Matthew is committed to continuing his professional development and will be progressing toward a Level 3 diploma, further enhancing his skills, confidence, and contribution to the Charity."

Mathew goes on to share his future aspirations: "My future aspiration is to keep improving, keep getting more competent in my work, and to gain more skills in other trades."

National Apprenticeship Week is a chance to celebrate the commitment, talent, and ambition of our apprentices. Oliver and Matthew are fantastic examples of the positive impact apprenticeships have at QAC, and we look forward to supporting them as they continue to grow and succeed in their careers.
