QAC Estates staff member assists with award winning Garden of Evolution at the NEC!

QAC is proud to announce that Stuart Male from our estates team has helped build the Garden of Evolution at Gardener's World Live! What's even more impressive is the Garden has been awarded Best in Show and Platinum Award! Working alongside other lucky volunteers, Stuart planted cycads, ferns and various other prehistoric plants.

Each area of the show highlights a stage in the history of life on Earth, showing how plants and other life forms have evolved from their earliest beginnings to the present day.

Stuart explains how he got involved:

'I attend Winterborne Gardens every Thursday for RHS level 2 in horticulture run by Darren Rudge and Helen wood, they are often in contact with David Stevens, who has won Chelsea Flower Show five times! David has got in touch with Dr Alice Roberts from Birmingham University and they have both collaborated on this project.

Out of 100 people only 50 were selected and I was one of the lucky winners, helping to build this incredible garden at the NEC.

It was really good engaging with other people from different backgrounds and encouraging good communication and interaction between us to get the job done, it was also a beautiful day, which helped.

It was hard work but extremely rewarding and I feel so lucky to be given the opportunity to work on this amazing project.'

Well done Stuart!
