The sound of steel drums filled the air at QAC!

As part of our Windrush Day and World Music Day celebrations, we were delighted to welcome an incredible steel band to college, bringing energy, culture and fantastic music to our campus.

Students and staff enjoyed an exciting performance featuring a variety of musical genres, demonstrating just how versatile the steel pan can be. From well-known classics to upbeat favourites, there was something for everyone to enjoy!

The celebration didn't stop there – many of our students had the opportunity to try playing the steel pans themselves, discovering new skills and experiencing the joy of making music. The infectious rhythms soon had everyone clapping, singing and dancing along, creating a wonderful atmosphere of fun, inclusion and community.

Events like these are a fantastic way to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Windrush generation while recognising the power of music to bring people together. A huge thank you to our talented performers for making the day so memorable and inspiring.
