Building connections through work experience

The programme has been extremely beneficial for Bristnall Hall students and has had a very positive impact on their confidence, engagement, and enjoyment of physical activity. We would also like to highlight the contribution of the QAC LEAP students who were delivering the sessions. From the initial visit, all students were friendly and willing to support us with understanding rules and key points for different sports. There has been a clear development in their confidence and leadership skills when giving instructions and interacting with the students and staff. It has been wonderful to see this development.
The opportunity to experience new and inclusive sports such as wheelchair basketball and boccia has been invaluable. This allowed the students from Bristnall Hall to take part in activities they had never encountered before which challenged themselves. The inclusive nature of the sessions ensured that all students felt supported and able to participate meaningfully including students who attended with a visual impairment.
Overall, the sessions were extremely well received by both staff and students, and we greatly value the positive experiences, skills, and confidence gained by everyone involved. As a result, this programme has not only provided valuable experiences for our students but has also helped to develop a strong and positive partnership between Bristnall Hall Academy and Queen Alexandra College, which we hope will continue to grow in the future.
