BUILDING BRIGHTER FUTURES APPEAL - HEAR WHAT FORMER STUDENTS THINK

Image of Jack, Izzy and Adam smiling with their thumbs up

Jack, Adam and Izzy all live in the same supported living house (part of the charity’s Residential Services provision) and also went through college as residential students.

Here’s what they said about their time at college and what they think about the Building Brighter Futures Appeal.

Question: What are the best things about QAC, why should students want to come?

Jack – it’s beautiful, the staff are just brilliant, it’s a dream.  It is a fantastic experience, and you can learn new skills.

Adam  - it’s exciting, a great place to join.

Izzy – students can get access to their needs being met and you can also make great friends.

NB They all also agreed that students should come for the archery!  They are all involved with the archery sessions for students, staff and clients that are led by one of their support workers.  They absolutely love getting involved and helping people in the sessions.

Question:  The Building Brighter Futures Appeal will enable us to open the College up to more people which is going to require funding.  If someone reading this fancies having a go at fundraising what could you suggest to them?

Jack – make and sell things, we’ve made key rings and decorations which we sell and we give the money raised to the charity.

Adam – we did a table top sale in the College’s library to raise money for new books

Izzy – you could do a challenge, we gave up things in November (Say No in November) and raised money for the charity.  Bake sales are also a good idea.

Question:  Finally, what advice would you have for anyone reading this?

Jack – be a role model for other people.

Adam – smile and be polite

Izzy – spread the word about the charity and if you don’t know about it, come and find out.

If you’d like to take the advice of Jack, Adam and Izzy and either fundraise or find out more we’d love to hear from you. Please get in touch by emailing fundraising@qac.ac.uk or phone 0121 803 5487.
