QAC Students host SporTea session for corporates
Last week, we were proud to host our Sportea event here at Queen Alexandra Charity (QAC), bringing together corporates, universities, businesses and supporters for a day that truly showcased the heart of our community. From the moment guests arrived, the atmosphere was filled with energy, connection and an incredible sense of shared purpose.

As part of the event, we invited guests to join us on a tour of the college facilities. Walking through our facilities with industry professionals and supporters highlighted just how transformative these spaces are for the hundreds of students with disabilities and complex needs who learn and thrive here every day.
One attendee shared:
“Today was genuinely one of the most moving and inspiring days I’ve had in a long time. The facilities aren’t just impressive — they’re life-changing. They give hundreds of SEN students in Birmingham a place where they are understood, supported, and empowered.”

Our Hospitality and Sports students were at the heart of Sportea. Their warmth, confidence and professionalism shone throughout the day, from serving delicious cakes and coffees to guiding guests through each activity. The pride they took in their work was clear, and it was wonderful to see them engaging so confidently with visitors.
A highlight of the event was the opportunity for guests to take part in accessible sports, including wheelchair basketball and blindfolded goalball. These activities offered a powerful glimpse into the adaptability, teamwork and determination our students demonstrate every day.

As one guest reflected:
“Sharing those moments, stepping into their world even briefly, was powerful. Their determination, laughter, and joy were honestly unforgettable. It reminded me how much we can learn when we simply show up, take part, and listen.”
Sportea is more than an event… it is a celebration of inclusion, accessibility, and community bringing people together to network with a twist. It broadens knowledge of not just our charity and the work we do, but also of people with disabilities, learning disabilities and visual impairments. We are grateful to everyone who attended and helped make the day such a success, and we are incredibly proud of our students for the enthusiasm and dedication they brought to each part of the event.
