On Thursday 19th June, QAC was delighted to welcome Mr Richard Parker, Mayor of the West Midlands Combined Authority, to Queen Alexandra College. Mr Parker met Bev Jessop, Principal and Chief Executive and Mark Abrams, Chair of Trustees, and received a tour of the site and learnt about the work of the charity.

Mr Parker discovered how the QA Charity, Birmingham, supports young adults with learning difficulties and disabilities through education, residential services and community services as well as running a range of successful Enterprises. During the visit, Mr Parker spent time with students, clients and their enthusiastic staff, stopping to chat with them about the wellbeing benefits of the activities and even joined in with the social group, a mix of college residential students and supported living clients.

With their determination and the support of dedicated staff they have a wonderful opportunity to learn new skills and realise their full potential. I want every young person in the region, regardless of their background, to have access to the life-changing support they need to thrive in the years ahead.”
